Most of the hydraulic stacker lift related accidents that occur every year could have been prevented through proper training and safety awareness. In light of this, we've compiled our Top 10 safety tips to get rid of hydraulic stacker lifting accident.
Training
Make sure all operators are properly trained (both theoretical and practical) and licensed to operator a stacker lift.
Clothing
Appropriate clothing must be worn consistently, generally consisting of a hard hat, high visibility safety vest and steel toed boots
Proper Inspection
Lead a circle check inspection before operation to make sure the hydraulic stacker lift is in operation condition and completely functional
Seatbelt
Before starting the stacker lift, make sure to put your seatbelt, ensure the unit is in neutral and the mirrors/seat are properly adjusted
360 DEGREE
Maintain situational awareness at all times, paying attention to obstructions, driving conditions and follow all rules/policies
Clear Equipment
Keep clear of the stacker lift mast and do not ride on the forklift unless a you're using a secured work platform attachment
Not to Overload
Ensure the load is properly balanced and stable. Make sure stackers are at least 2/3's of the way underneath your load and the heaviest objects are at the bottom of a stack
Lift Capacity
With large and/or heavy loads, tilt the stackerlift's mast backwards and reduce your travel speed. Never exceed the lift capacity of your forklift
Clear Visibility
Make sure you have clear visibility at all times and drive in reverse if your load obstructs your forward
Transport Loads
Transport large loads with the mast slightly tilted to prevent the load from shifting and falling while in motion or coming to a stop
